Welcome to the third edition of All systems go!
In fact, we have named this special edition All systems green! to celebrate the news that we have just recently been accredited to the International Environmental Standard ISO14001. Please see the article below for more details.
I hope that you''e had a good summer. We've been really busy, thanks in part to the success
of our first visit to the Lincolnshire Show, and also to the work being put in by our new Business Development Manager, Paul Bingham.
It was fabulous that England won the Ashes this summer - let's hope for a similar result in South Africa next summer!
With best wishes
Chris Robey |

ALL SYSTEMS GREEN!
We are pleased to announce that we have been certified to the International Environmental Standard ISO14001 at the first attempt, reflecting our serious commitment to environmental protection and corporate responsibility.
Managing Director, Chris Robey, stated, "As with our Quality System, we are determined to ensure that we implement a series of objectives
that will make a positive impact for our customers and also the wider environment. Many of the practices and procedures that have been approved have been in place for years, but we felt that this was the right time to have them independently assessed".
We have considered five key areas: Energy and resource usage, waste management, transport, supplier assessment and, finally, knowledge and training.
We hope that our customers will be reassured of our commitment, and also tangibly benefit from the experience and knowledge that our
Account Managers can bring to your own impact assessments.

The first objective for any business should be to 'reduce' paper usage.
Questions to consider are: Can another media be used? Is every copy used?
Is this document likely to become obsolete? Can it be printed both sides?
When conducting our print management audits, we often find that significant
reductions in paper consumption can be found by simply challenging
current practices.
If paper is to be used then the best option is to use recycled paper*, either
100% or where a proportion is recycled. Paper merchants have reacted to
demand and a wide range of papers are now available. Paper recycling has
been criticised for its energy usage, but Friends of the Earth believe the
benefit of reduction in waste outweighs any negatives. |
|
 |
|
|
Another excellent solution is to use paper that is accredited to either FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) or PEFC (Program for Endorsement of Forest Certification). These are both rigorous assessments that leave customers reassured that the paper is made with consideration for people, wildlife and the environment. For example, FSC certification assures that
- Trees are replaced or allowed to regenerate naturally
- Rights of indigenous people are protected
- Local workers must be used and given training, safety equipment and a decent salary
- The wood is tracked from tree to end publication - every link has to be certified
- Future generations will be able to enjoy the benefits of the forest
- FSC is endorsed by WWF, Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace and the
Woodland Trust.
That said, it should also be stated that the UK print industry is responsible for more trees being
planted than any other industry and, second, that the timber used is grown as a 'crop' so virtually all
paper used in the UK is from sustainable sources. |

Reduce - Reuse - Recycle! |

These are sheets of paper,
either printed or plain, usually
A4, produced on a Tamarac
machine, which have a built in label or card. The
label or card can be laser printed as part of the
original sheet but then peeled off, either by you
or by your customer/member. |
|
 |
There are many different uses. The labels are popular for internet/ebay shops and
distribution companies as you can produce your invoice/delivery note and package labels
at the same time.
The cards work well as membership, loyalty or discount cards, and are regularly used by
retailers, insurance companies, colleges and universities. They are also a novel way of sending
out a business card within an introductory letter. |

Here at Systematic there are those of us that do, those of us that don't and those of us who
would like to think they would do more if they were that way inclined! |
We can't really complain too much about the weather this summer, it didn't stop those of us
that do from partaking in our favourite physical activities. For myself, it was a bit of dressage
and show jumping, for Katie it was tennis, Lorna enjoys a spot of archery, Helen is well
known for her skills with a hockey stick, whilst for Sharon and Chris Robey it was pounding
the pavements in their jogging shoes, but for several of the Systematic team it was the age
honoured game of golf. Elaine and Helen spent a lot of time practicing and preparing for the
annual Systematic golf tournament. Robert ultimately won, but Helen kept the girls in touch
by pulling up a close 2nd. |

|
Of course, for those who don't, 'Big Brother','I'm a Celebrity - Get me Out of Here' and
'X-Factor' become fully interactive sports in their own right and totally compulsive viewing.
And then for others the 2010 FIFA World
Cup is looming and discussions will range
long into the night about the relative merits
of 4:4:2 and playing it wide out on the left,
the referees requirement of a visit to
Specsavers, and then how 'we' should have
got the England Manager's job but the Post
Office were on strike (again!) and the CV
just didn't arrive
in time....

"My name is Pip and I am a King Charles
Spaniel, just over one year old. I have
learned in my short life that I have to
reach certain standards. I attended a Puppy
Socialising class, then I earned a certificate
in Puppy Training. Now I have gained my
Bronze and Silver Medals and am training hard for Gold. I am
hoping to gain the highest of standards, just like my friends at
Systematic.
My owner works at Systematic and to them excellence comes
as second, if not first, nature. Nothing is too much trouble, and
their one aim is to be the "top dog" as far as their customers are
concerned. They are constantly striving for that "Gold Medal."
You will not be disappointed with Systematic (and they won’Äôt
do a whoopsie on your carpet!)" |
